Do you have any questions?

That anticipated question when you come to the end of an interview?

What’s your response?

Erm..no not at this stage or do you pull out your notebook with your prepared list of questions?

Our recommendation?

Always go prepared with the RIGHT questions! If you ask the wrong questions, you could have turned a perfectly great interview into a plethora of reasons to not offer you the job or invite you for a second interview?

SO what are the RIGHT questions?

The most common mistake candidates make at this penultimate stage is asking a question which is all about them NOT the job, the interviewer or the company! BIG MISTAKE!

We recommend the following questions as recommended in Job Domination available here
Whats the environment around here?
How has the economy affected the company?
What are the company goals?
What is the vision for the company in 5-10 years time?
What type of person excels here?
The last person who filled this position, what were the biggest mistakes that person made?
What were their highlight moments?
To get a feel for the company morale, are the employee friends with each other?
How long have you been with the company?
Would I be directly reporting into yourself?

The purpose of the questions at the end of the interview is so that you can now interview the company according to your needs and requirements. Candidates forget that an interview is a two-way street, you are interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you. This is your time to find out if this company is the right fit for your career, do their values match yours. Does their 5-10 year plan align with yours? Does the type of person that excels there describe you?

You can focus on questions about you once there is a job offer on the table NOT before!
