Field Sales Representative — Home Improvement
Field Sales Representative — £78,000–£130,000+ OTE
Two of your competitors just disappeared
SafeStyle and Everest both went into administration. Their customers did not stop wanting the work done — there are simply far fewer companies left to do it.
At the same time, 54% of UK consumers plan to start a home improvement project this year, nearly 7 million homeowners are planning major renovations at an average budget of £14,000, and one in five wants to move but cannot afford to — so the money is going into the house they already own.
Our client has been trading for over 20 years, with the installation operation and the reputation to absorb that demand. What they need is people to sit in front of the customers.
Your appointments are booked and vetted
Leads come from inbound website enquiries, customer referrals and in-store, and every one goes through a two-call vetting process before it reaches your diary. You get a confirmation call about an hour before each appointment, which drives a 75–90% sit rate — you are not turning up to empty houses.
Slots are fixed at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm, one to three appointments a day, with travel between them mapped to 30–60 minutes. You spend 60–90 minutes with the customer: listen, walk them through the range, measure, quote, and aim to close on the day. They asked for the appointment, so they are expecting a conversation that ends in a decision.
What you earn
Average order value is £7,000, and commission is 10% rising to 12% — roughly £700 to £840 a sale, uncapped.
- Realistic weekly average: £1,500–£3,000, accounting for slower weeks, training and time off
- A fully productive week of five sales: £3,500–£4,200
- Annual equivalent £78,000–£130,000+, with consistent top performers above £150,000
- An additional 5% on any appointment you source yourself
- Paid weekly by BACS on installation, which happens within 10 days of the sale
Now the honest part
There is no basic salary. Your income is entirely what you sell, and it varies week to week.
Five days a week, including one day at the weekend. Which weekday you take off is usually your choice. Weekend appointments normally finish by 6 pm; weekday slots run to 8 pm, and later leads are optional rather than expected.
In-home or direct sales experience is non-negotiable — at least 12 months in a field or in-home setting.
Training and support
- Week one: full residential induction at our client’s training base in Romford, Essex — the product range, the consultative sales process, the CRM and booking systems, measurements, quoting and closing
- Weeks one to four: financial support while you train and build your pipeline
- Days 1–90: continuous field support, with a senior rep or field manager on your early appointments giving feedback in real time
- Beyond: progression into senior representative, field mentoring and regional development roles as your track record builds
What you are selling
Windows and doors, kitchens and bathrooms, garden rooms and conservatories, bedrooms, solar panels, spray foam and cavity wall insulation, air conditioning, garage doors, patios and driveways, soffits and gutters. The range has expanded well beyond windows, which means more ways to meet what a customer actually wants and more routes to a sale.
Every installation uses Pilkington glass where applicable, meets or exceeds Building Regulations Part L, and carries a 10-year quibble-free guarantee. Kitchen and bathroom remodels currently recoup 60–80% of their cost in added property value — a useful thing to be able to tell a homeowner who is weighing up the spend.
Who this suits
Experienced in-home or direct sales people who are motivated by earnings, comfortable with variable weekly income, and self-motivated enough not to need daily management. You will need your own car and a full UK licence, and your own laptop and smartphone.
It will not work if you need a guaranteed monthly salary, have under 12 months of direct sales experience, cannot work evening appointments to 8 pm, or are not prepared to work one day at the weekend.
About our client

We do not name our client here, but we tell you exactly who they are on the first call.
