What is remote recruitment and how can I use this to my advantage?

We all know how much the pandemic shifted how we work, it also shifted how we recruit for roles. Remote recruitment is essentially the process of recruitment from sourcing, screening, interviewing, and final recruitment of the candidates virtually. It has allowed recruitment to open up and tap into larger and more diverse talent pools with a broader skill set. It is a timesaving, cost-effective and efficient way of completing the initial parts of the hiring process.

Now, just because we do things virtually does not mean we get to be lazy. Remote recruitment needs to be treated the same as in-person recruitment.

“Digital hiring tools were already on the rise, but the pandemic has accelerated their use. As companies rethink how they hire, AI and automation are coming to the forefront as necessities for growth in a post-pandemic workplace.” Forbes

Let us look at the benefits:

-Flexibility – Recruiters can virtually complete the process so that candidates won’t have to personally enter the recruiter’s office, saving time and money.

-Hassle-free – Using remote recruiting methods like screening calls and video interviews allows recruitment to be a perfect solution to increase the speed of the hiring process.

-Modern – it is pivotal for recruiters to adopt new and modern tools to effectively and quickly complete the recruitment process.

-Gives you access to wider talent pools – With remote recruitment, it is easier to find top talent in the areas you need your salespeople.

With remote recruitment, to effectively pull it off, the very first thing you need to be clear on is your recruitment plan.

So, what steps do you need to take to ensure that you find and place top talent?

1. Make sure you craft an effective job description highlighting the desired location for the role

2. Set up your technical platforms so your camera is clear and you can record the interview for your shortlisting reference

3. Put candidate experience at the forefront and test your process with members of the team

4. Make sure you advertise the role on the right platforms

Candidates are in the driving seat and opportunities are abundant, remember that candidate experience is of the utmost importance. Make sure you are representing a company that people want to work for.

“A modern recruiter is one who is targeted, builds relationships and knows how to not only find candidates but also get them to respond!” Stacy Donovan Zapar
